![]() March 8, 2009 | 11:17 PM | 1 comments ![]() Daylight Saving Time has begun in the united states on 2:00 a.m. this morning, which means we lost one full hour of sleep today! ![]() well, i don't like the lack of sleep, so i guess that's pretty much the reason that i don't like DST when it begins. the only thing i like about it is that the sky is going to be dark when we go to school in the morning.. don't you think it's cool that you go to school when the sky is still dark? i don't know why but i just love it, probably because it's easier for me to sleep in the bus haha ![]() What is Daylight Saving Time? ![]() One of the biggest reasons we change our clocks to Daylight Saving Time (DST) is that it reportedly saves electricity. Newer studies are being done to see if that long-held reason is true. In general, energy use and the demand for electricity for lighting our homes is directly connected to when we go to bed and when we get up. Bedtime for most of us is late evening through the year. When we go to bed, we turn off the lights and TV. In the average home, 25 percent of all the electricity we use is for lighting and small appliances, such as TVs, VCRs and stereos. A good percentage of energy consumed by lighting and appliances occurs in the evening when families are home. By moving the clock ahead one hour, we can cut the amount of electricity we consume each day. More? click here Actually, today is the International Women's Day too!
